What this sign says

Km/j is kilometer sejam, Malay for kilometres per hour. The number is the maximum speed through the work zone. The standard lists its temporary speed limit sign at 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 km/j (ATJ 2C/85, Part Two). Our settings run 20 to 80, so the 20 sits outside that list and goes out only where a site needs traffic crawling.

When it is used

  • Expressway and fast federal road works, where the number has to be read from further back.
  • Resurfacing and lane closures on high volume routes.
  • Night works on fast roads, where reading distance matters most.

Before you order

  • This is the 1220 x 1220 highway board. We also rent a 1200 x 900 JKR board with the same numbers, and the two get mixed up on quotations, so confirm the size before you sign off.
  • We send this size for expressway and fast federal road work and the smaller board for town and district roads. Check that against your traffic management plan rather than taking it as a rule.
  • Book the End Speed Limit board on the same order so the restriction is properly lifted.
  • Mounting: at least 1.5 m high on rural roads and 2.2 m urban, with lateral clearance of at least 3.6 m rural and 0.6 m urban (ATJ 2C/85, Figure 2.1). On a portable support, keep the board at least 0.3 m clear of the roadway.
  • Tell us the frame you want (A shape or post), how many boards, your start date, how long you need them, and whether we deliver or you collect from the Bangi yard.
