What is the 750mm PE cone with sand base?

Our everyday orange road cone: 750 mm tall, made of polyethylene (PE), with one white reflective band, standing on a 3 kg sand base. It is the lowest-cost cone we rent, which makes it the one to order in quantity for car parks, walkways and short closures.

When to rent the 750mm PE cone with sand base

  • Car parks, loading bays and site entrances.
  • Short lane closures and diversions on local roads.
  • Marking hazards around a work area: open trenches, manholes and spills.
  • Events, to guide cars into parking and keep lanes clear.

Before you rent the 750mm PE cone with sand base

  • Match the base to the wind. On a highway shoulder, or anywhere lorries pass close at speed, a 1 metre super cone on a rubber base stays upright better. If a cone keeps blowing over, the base was wrong, not the cone.
  • Where your traffic management plan uses traffic guidance cones, the standard spaces them 15 m apart through the buffer and work areas and 5 m apart in the transition (ATJ 2C/85, Part One, Table 5.3).
  • At night, traffic guidance cones in a lane closure or diversion need blinkers fitted at the required spacing (ATJ 2C/85, 2.3.2.1(a)). We rent solar blinkers separately.
