What the Speed Limit sign says

Km/j is short for kilometer sejam, Malay for kilometres per hour, so 40 KM/J reads as 40 km/h. The number is the maximum speed through the work zone. The standard lists its temporary speed limit sign at 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 km/j (ATJ 2C/85, Part Two). Our settings run 20 to 80, so the 20 sits outside that list and goes out only where a site needs traffic crawling.

When to rent the Speed Limit sign

  • Stepping traffic down on approach to a lane closure or taper.
  • Rough or unfinished surfaces where the running speed has to drop.
  • Anywhere workers are close to a live lane without a hard barrier.

Before you rent the Speed Limit sign

  • Our face is 1200 x 900 on 3.0MM ACP. That is our stock size, not a figure taken from the standard, so check it against your traffic management plan.
  • One adjustable board covers the range, so you do not hire a separate sign for every speed. Tell us the settings you need.
  • Book the End Speed Limit board on the same order. A temporary limit that is never lifted leaves drivers guessing where it ends.
  • Mounting: at least 1.5 m high on rural roads and 2.2 m urban, with lateral clearance of at least 3.6 m rural and 0.6 m urban (ATJ 2C/85, Figure 2.1). On a portable support, keep the board at least 0.3 m clear of the roadway.
  • We also carry a 1220 x 1220 highway version of this board for faster roads. Check your traffic management plan for which size the job calls for.
  • Tell us the frame you want (A shape or post), how many boards, your start date, how long you need them, and whether we deliver or you collect from the Bangi yard.
