What this sign says
This is a signboard for rent, not a person for hire. It carries a black figure holding a flag inside a yellow diamond on fluorescent orange, with a white distance plate below. There is no Malay wording on the face. It warns approaching drivers that someone ahead is controlling traffic by hand, so they arrive ready to stop.
When it is used
- Single lane working where traffic is held and released by hand.
- Site accesses with lorries crossing a live carriageway.
- Short closures where signals are not worth setting up.
Before you order
- Our face is 1200 x 900 on 3.0MM ACP. That is our stock size, not a figure taken from the standard, so check it against your traffic management plan.
- The board comes down when the flagger does. The standard requires the advance flagger sign to be displayed only while a flagger is on duty, and removed or covered when not (ATJ 2C/85, 2.3.2.14(c)).
- One flagger is enough if both ends of the work area can be seen at once, otherwise two (ATJ 2C/85, 2.3.2.14(c)). Two flaggers usually means a board on each approach, so tell us how many approaches you are signing.
- Flaggers work with a red 600 mm square flag or a 600 mm Stop/Go paddle by day, and a traffic baton light at night (ATJ 2C/85, 2.3.2.14 and 2.3.2.15). We rent the paddles, flags and baton lights separately.
- Tell us the frame you want (A shape or post), how many boards, your start date, how long you need them, and whether we deliver or you collect from the Bangi yard.
